Fluoride strengthens vulnerable surfaces
Fluoride helps harden enamel and can make exposed dentin less reactive. Over-the-counter fluoride toothpaste helps with daily protection. Dentists may also apply fluoride varnish or recommend prescription-strength fluoride toothpaste for higher-risk cases.

Mild, brief sensitivity can often improve with careful home care. Still, some symptoms should not be ignored.
